Recording Tips

Check the recording quality of your device by performing a test in the same or similar conditions in which you will be conducting your interview or discussion.

Test your device at the distance from which the participant(s) will be positioned to determine audio quality and volume, and adjust, if necessary.

Remember that background noise is largely responsible for poor recording quality. Avoid high traffic (road and foot) and windy areas.

If a speaker is not a native English speaker, it is beneficial to request that he or she speak at a slower pace, without impeding the level of comfort and the flow of the conversation.

Participants should avoid speaking simultaneously (overtalking), where possible.
